In my opinion, one of the best things in life is getting mail. Particularly of the wrapped-up, heavy kind of packages that seem to sing: “I bring you something that will really make your day“. In my case these packages usually contain books, movies, CDs or something fun from Strawberrynet. And things for me usually come in my mailbox.

On the day of this little adventure, though, it was actually Boyfriend’s mailbox that was packed with packages (pardon the pun). One of them turned out to be something really exciting – you see, about a week ago I was browsing through my favourite blogs (instead of writing my exam paper, but we won’t get into that). I discovered that Tara from one of my absolute favourite blogs, NOTHING ELEGANT, had opened her own vintage shop on Etsy called “A Single Charm Vintage“.
I was very aware of my recently decided shopping ban, but couldn’t resist taking a look. I quickly regretted it, because there were LOTS of things that were – to put it kindly – tempting (for instance a gorgeous, Chanel-like quilted bag). You can imagine my relief when I found something I knew Boyfriend would love (and which I might borrow occasionally – though I didn’t say that, of course): perfectly round, 60’s vintage sunglasses. After a tiny bit of persuation from me (which included dropping a mention of the movie Léon), he decided to order them. I told him to give Tara my greetings, since she is one of my favourite bloggers out there.
But back to the mail – Boyfriend brought the package to my place, since he knew I’d love to be there when he opened it (and thanks to a comment from Tara in my blog, I knew she had slipped in a little something for me as well, which didn’t exactly make me less eager). Inside the padded envelope we found this sweet little box, suitably decorated with shoes and handbags.

Inside the box was this…

… and inside the envelope I found a lovely card in the same colour scheme as the box.

Inside the envelope was a hand-written note just for me (me!), and a gorgeous, vintage-inspired sticker.

As if the card didn’t make me happy enough (a card! For me!), there were the rest of the package to consider. Inside we found not only one, but two pairs of sunglasses – dearest Tara had given me my very own pair, in the same 60’s style as Boyfriend, only black! This is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me – and definitely the sweetest when it comes to my blog-life. Tara, lovliest, sweetest darling: ♥ THANK YOU! ♥

Boyfriend’s sunglasses – don’t they remind you of Léon?

My very own ones – I’ll take a picture of me wearing them some day soon (when I’m not having a horrible hairday).

Did you notice the little detail on the sides? Somehow they remind me of pilots – perhaps I’ll have to learn how to fly now? I’m pretty sure I could do anything with these glasses on – and the thought of all my lovely readers (and Tara in particular today!) in my head. Safe journey, everyone!

I’ve been a really bad girl lately. No, no shenanigans, my darlings, it’s just that… remember that shopping ban I told you about? Well, I kind of blew it. Since I’d just finished my bachelor paper in pedagogics, I decided I would allow myself a little treat. Nothing really big, just a little something to celebrate that my three-year education was coming to an end. Then, this Saturday, I ended up buying…

… these Ray Ban-ish sunglasses, and my second pair of Harlequin tights (one leg is black, one is white). I love these tights so much I decided having two pairs would be perfectly legitimate.

Next I found two gorgeous tops at Cubus; this grey one, which makes my body look insanely great, and…

… this completely sheer dress-thing, which looks fabulously scandalous when worn with black, completely opaque tights and a simple red bra. I photographed it in front of the window for full effect, but it doesn’t look that sheer when I’m wearing it (so no, you’re not taking fashion advice from someone trashy, darlings).
My crown jewels of this shopping spree were these fantastic boots from Bianco, which fit perfectly and can be worn with everything:

This is actually my first pair of black leather boots, and I can’t understand how I ever managed without them. And yesterday they had a special offer on roses (and I do love flowers!), so I couldn’t help allowing myself this extra little treat. Yes, I’ve been very bad indeed this weekend, but it was oh, so worth it.

Some days ago I had to get up at 6.30 a.m. because of a couple of doctor’s appointments. I sat on a hot, crowded bus for half an hour, then got run through a weird machine at the hospital, then just managed to catch a bus back to my second appointment that day.
By that time I felt sorry enough for myself that I decided to splurge on a magazine (despite my shopping ban, yes), and my happiness was great indeed when I discovered Lola. No, I hadn’t actually read it before, but from my wanderings around the world of fashion blogs I knew that I had missed out on something. I fliped through it quickly, and realized that not only did I like absolutely everything I’d seen – I adored it. It was mine for the staggering price of 159,- NOK (€18 or $24) – but it was very much worth it. I’m now left do decide: shall I cut out the editorials and put them on my walls, or leave the magazine in its pristine state?
While I contemplate that, you guys can entertain yourself with my newest Polyvores, all inspired by various spreads from my Lola.
Yes, that is sleet you can see in front of my black coat. Horrible day. Lovely Boyfriend, though.
